E3 2013: PS4 is Region Free

The PlayStation 4 will not be region locked according to Sony. It follows the path of the PS3 in allowing gamers to import games from all the regions. You don’t have to buy consoles from a specific region to play games from there.

This is obviously great news and the PS4 is something of a pro consumer console. Sony has done a great job with allowing used games on the console and not requiring an internet connection to play your games.

This news feels like a cherry on the top and it is, however, you do have to pay for online. The cost of Sony’s online service is $60 and you will also be getting free games from it.

Update: Sony’s Shuhei Yoshida has also confirmed that the PS4 will be region free.
